José Antonio García Mesa

José Antonio García Mesa is a Principal Investigator at the IFAPA Venta del Llano Center in Jaén. He has worked for years on improving the extraction process and quality of virgin olive oils. His main line of research has been the development of new rapid and automatic analysis methods, pioneering the development of on-line measurement systems that are now widely used in olive mills.
More recently, he has developed automated cleaning systems for olive mills based on the cleaning-in-place (CIP) philosophy.
He currently focuses his activity on improving the sector’s sustainability and, in particular, on improving the composting process for olive mill byproducts.
